hey everyone,

i'm a pretty recent fan of Sarah Blasko. i had actually made a mental note to listen to 'what the sea wants...' when she won the ARIA, but somehow it took me 2 years to finally discover her. Which is good only in 1 respect, because i have 3 albums worth of material to catch up on. so far i'm loving it, so by impulse, i got myself a ticket to the enmore show in sydney on october 9. hoping to make that night slightly less unsociable...so hi all!

Gidday pheonix, welcome to the site.

I have got a thread going about that gig, and I will plan a meet up before hand so we can hit up the gig as a massive crew :fab:

Hi, I'm Ben and I live in Orkney, which is where you end up if you get to the north coast of Scotland and swim for a bit. Last time I regarded myself as a fan, there was no such thing as an online forum - you wrote to the record company & got a quarterly photocopied newsletter & a signed photo of the band (which, for the record, was All About Eve!). I first heard Sarah Blasko about a year ago & am still recovering from the experience. I love her new album to bits, and I'm very excited to think she's going to be in the UK this year - I might even get to see her live.

Hi Ben, Glad to see another UK fan. Yes you should definitely go to one of Sarah's shows if you get chance. During her last UK tour (for the release of her first album - all those years ago now), she played Glasgow, so if she follows a similar route, I guess that would be your nearest, if you can call that near

I don't imagine a lot of touring bands go much further north than that usually anyway do they??

Oh and Welcome to the forum.

Hi Ben

I'm at the other end of the UK - just before you get to France!

I really hope you get the chance to see Sarah live - I've seen her in London, Manchester, Birmingham, London and London, so far...

Hi there. Welcome to the forum. :)

So how did you manage to discover Sarah so early on and you being from the US? That's pretty cool, as she's only starting to get international fame. Not that there are not other US fans from way back, but i'm always intrigued to know these things happen.

Hello guys and gals,

My name is Erik, I live in the Netherlands and eventhough only Sarah's last album is out here (since March or so), I've been listening to her for about 2,5 years now. I have a friend in Australia (never met her, only know her through a forum, but we're pretty close and have recorded music together) who recommended What The Sea Wants, The Sea Will Have to me. So yeah, the weird sounds in For You, combined with an amazing voice made me listen to it more often. Gradually learned to play most of the album on guitar (my instrument for 7 years).

Last thursday she played near my hometown, so I finally got the chance to see her - don't get that chance every day in the Netherlands. Was there rather early, got the chance to talk to Dave (or David?) the keyboard player. It prevented me from being disappointend, because he told me they wouldn't play any older stuff. I showed him the sign I made, that said 'please play hammer' and he told me to hold it up anyway. Even if they hadn't rehearsed the song, especially with the drummer (a Swedish guy, not her regular one)

The concert itself was lovely, and amazing. During the second song, Sarah saw my sign and after the song she said something like "that's the cutest sign I've ever... [walking away from the mic and towards me] I wish we could play it, but...". Anyway, that was amazing even if they didn't play Hammer. I especially loved Sleeper Awake and I Knever Knew.

After the show, I wandered around some more and saw David and Dave talking to each other. A little while later, Sarah Blasko herself came out too and we talked. Still shocked by that, actually.

Pity the memory is becoming vaguer, but well, I had an amazing evening.

So, hi guys :P

That's a great story. Thanks for sharing it. I'm glad you managed to catch one of her shows and meet her. It's great when she plays somewhere new and no one knows her - You get to hang out with her and her band and talk :)
